NeuroToxins
The Medspa at River's Edge Wellness Center offers advanced, medically supervised neurotoxin treatments to help you smooth fine lines and wrinkles for a refreshed, naturally youthful appearance. Our neurotoxin therapies—including Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin—are safe and effective non-invasive solutions designed to soften frown lines, forehead creases, crow's feet, and other dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement. By precisely relaxing the targeted facial muscles, these treatments help diminish existing lines and prevent new ones from forming—with little to no downtime. Each treatment is personalized to your unique facial anatomy and aesthetic goals and performed by our experienced nurse medical injectors under the expert medical oversight of Ashley Sutton, FNP, MSN, our Medical Director, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and successful rejuvenation experience. Our comprehensive approach helps you achieve smoother, more youthful-looking skin confidently—and maintain those beautiful, natural results long-term.

The Science Behind Smoother Skin
Neurotoxins work by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that tell your facial muscles to contract. When a muscle can't fully contract, the overlying skin stays smooth—softening the dynamic wrinkles that form from years of repeated expressions like frowning, squinting, and raising your eyebrows. This precise, targeted action is what makes the results look so natural. FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002, neurotoxins like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin have been safely and effectively used for over two decades, making them one of the most trusted and well-studied aesthetic treatments available today.

Botox
Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a purified botulinum toxin type A derived from Clostridium botulinum, and is the oldest, most tried-and-tested neurotoxin on the market, with the longest track record of clinical use and research behind it. It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, temporarily paralyzing targeted muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles. It contains accessory complexing proteins surrounding the core 150 kDa neurotoxin, giving it a total molecular complex of roughly 900 kDa. Onset typically appears within 3–7 days, with effects lasting around 3–4 months. It is supplied as a vacuum-dried powder requiring reconstitution with saline before injection.
Dysport
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is also a botulinum toxin type A formulation, but it features smaller protein complexes and a lower concentration of complexing proteins than Botox. Its dosing units are not interchangeable with Botox; Dysport generally follows an approximate 2.5:1 to 3:1 ratio (Dysport to Botox units). Dysport tends to have a slightly faster onset and a greater diffusion radius, making it well-suited for treating larger surface areas such as the forehead. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder and reconstituted with saline prior to use.

Xeomin
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a "naked" botulinum toxin type A, meaning it consists of the pure 150 kDa neurotoxin stripped of all accessory complexing proteins. This purified formulation may reduce the likelihood of the body developing neutralizing antibodies, which can otherwise diminish treatment efficacy over time. Its dosing is roughly 1:1 with Botox, and its mechanism—inhibiting acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction—is identical. A notable practical advantage is that Xeomin remains stable at room temperature before reconstitution, simplifying storage and handling.
WHAT IS AN IPL PHOTOFACIAL SESSION?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, often called a Photofacial, was originally developed for treating skin conditions like vascular lesions and pigmentation issues, but it has become a game-changer in medical esthetics for overall skin rejuvenation. IPL uses broad-spectrum light pulses that target and gently heat unwanted pigment (such as sun spots, age spots, and freckles) and redness (like rosacea and broken capillaries), while leaving surrounding healthy skin untouched. This process breaks down excess pigment for natural elimination by the body and stimulates collagen production—leading to smoother texture, more even tone, and a radiant, youthful glow with minimal downtime.
At River’s Edge Medspa, we take IPL Photofacial treatments a step further. Our sessions are thoughtfully customized with your unique skin type, concerns, and goals in mind—often combined with complementary esthetics like HydraFacial, derma peels, or regular spa facials for enhanced results. Every plan is personalized, medically guided, and focused on safe, lasting improvement—not temporary cover-ups.
